What if / Healing Depression

What if steals the could be.

Wondering "what if I fail" or "what if I am wrong" are sure steps
toward inaction and failure.

You see those thoughts are there to try to help save you. Negative thoughts are often hidden helpers.  They are there to help you avoid disappointment,
embarrassment and wasting time and energy.

Maybe when you think about finding a exercise class you think "last time I only went to
two classes before I quit".  That is a "what if I fail" question.  So lets say you never start that class.

You definitely didn't fail because you didn't start.

You didn't succeed either because you didn't start.

What if " I take this new job and find out later that I should have stayed at the old job?" The hidden help here is an attempt to avoid the humiliation of being unemployed
or having to hear "I told you so".

What are some of the hidden helpers you have received lately?

These thoughts can be of benefit so use them when making decisions.

When a negative thought comes up identify the hidden helper message.  Is the thought an attempt to alert you about safety or acting to quickly?

Look for the value behind the idea, you the information and decide on the best course of action.

I look forward to reading your comments.
